Parent and Child Relocation: A change in a parent and/or child’s residence can have drastic and sometimes devastating impacts on the other parents access to and relationship with a child. Circumstances may arise which cause a parent to attempt to relocate with a minor child and such instances are governed by Florida Law. Whether the other parent is in agreement with a requested relocation or objecting to the relocation of the other parent, an understanding of the law is necessary in order to protect a parent’s rights and access to a child. The Morris Law Group is experienced in both requesting and advocating for relocations of a parent and child; and also in objecting to a relocation of a parent and/or child on behalf of our clients. Detailed review and evaluation of the facts and circumstances is necessary to properly advise the Court as to such matters and to protect the interests of the child and parent. Additionally, where parents are in agreement as to the relocation of a child, the Morris Law Group can ensure compliance with Florida Statutes to facilitate a smooth relocation of the parent and child.

The Best Interests of the Child: All determinations regarding child are based on the “best interests of the child” as set forth by Florida Law. The Court will evaluate various factors to determine what is in the best interests of a child when a parent requests to relocate. The Morris Law Group is experienced in presenting this information to the Court in both requesting and opposing requests for relocation with a minor child.
